8. Accessibility Statement
8.1 Accessibility Commitment
Charitey is committed to making its Platform accessible to all users, regardless of disability, age, assistive technology use, or level of digital literacy. We believe that social impact tools should be available to everyone, and we are dedicated to removing barriers that prevent people from participating in the Platform's charitable mission.
8.2 Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines describe four key principles of accessible web design:
- Perceivable: Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.
- Operable: User interface components and navigation must be operable.
- Understandable: Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable.
- Robust: Content must be robust enough to be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.
8.3 Specific Accessibility Features
Charitey endeavours to implement the following accessibility features on the Platform:
- Screen Reader Support: All key content, forms, buttons, and interactive elements are labelled to support screen reader software.
- Keyboard Navigation: The Platform can be navigated using a keyboard alone, without requiring the use of a mouse.
- Text Alternatives: Images, icons, and non-text elements include descriptive alternative text.
- Colour Contrast: Text and background colours are selected to meet minimum contrast ratios.
- Resizable Text: Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Form Accessibility: All forms include clear labels, instructions, and error messages.
- Consistent Navigation: Navigation menus and structures are consistent across the Platform.
8.4 Limitations
While we strive to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, Charitey is a new and evolving Platform. There may be areas where our current implementation falls short of these standards. We are actively working to identify and address any accessibility gaps and will prioritise improvements as part of our development roadmap.
8.5 Ongoing Improvements
Charitey's accessibility programme includes:
- Regular accessibility audits of the Platform by our development team.
- User testing with individuals who use assistive technologies.
- Staff training on accessible design and content creation.
- Scheduled reviews of this Accessibility Statement to reflect current Platform status.
- Inclusion of accessibility considerations in the design and development of future features, including the planned mobile application.
8.6 Feedback
We welcome feedback from users about their accessibility experience on the Platform. If you encounter accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us at: Email: accessibility@charitey.org Subject: Accessibility Feedback
We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to provide a substantive response within 21 business days.
